A pretty princess, adorable doll and sweet miss this is how we try and grow a girl child, right? Someone who is expected to be soft-spoken, who's taught to be well-versed in household chores and forced to be dominated by men. If I ask a male child to perform all these "so-called" duties of a girl child or if he is expected to take the commands of a female then? Our nation is developing but in the domain of female standards it's still a century back.
In the present scenerio, every second gives rise to a new invention, each minute welcomes a new throne of politicians and several hours wait for a new success to come. However, it's disheartening how since childhood it's taught to the immature minds of the young that the status of men is more than that of women. It's mentioned nowhere who will run a house or who will go outside and earn the living of the family or who will fly an aeroplane or who will wash the utensils or who will take decisions or who will take commands of the head of family.
Our Indian Society itself has contributed in prevailing the menace of gender inequality. Dear readers, "One is not born, but made a woman." It is to note that there's a difference between sex and gender. Sex refers to biological differences between men and women to complete reproduction cycle whereas gender is the vast cultural differences attached to that basic differences.
Just after the birth of a child, if it is a boy he's given a blue coloured dress with gun as a toy and on the other hand a girl child is adorned with a pink frock with barbie doll.
The newspaper headlines reveal the ever increasing number of cases of domestic violence, female foeticide and ever practised custom of dowry on a daily basis. It is shameful to find timid dominance killing a girl child in the mother's womb. It is even more amusing to find people (in-laws) begging for money and ornaments in such an innovative manner. I feel pity for those powerless strong individuals who consider women weak and think that the world runs on power. If physical strength were relevant then the world would have been led by all the wrestlers. This justifies that women aren't weak but are purposely made weak and trained since childhood.
Even after such atrocities present in the society, a women is expected not to rise above these boundaries and suffer everything without uttering a word. I question all the patriarchal minded individuals, Can't women stand own their own feet to live an independent life? Not just in financial terms but a life where everyone understands that there's no point in uplifting cultural differences between men and women to degrade men and women. A person who dominates a woman, assaults a woman, indulges in violence ....I doubt is that person alive because there must have been a portion of him died that's why he is inhuman.
To all the women out there who are reading this now, I would like to underline and highlight the point that you are strong to face this world as well as rise and shine with the help of your abilities. You've all the caliber, strength and light : in simple words; you've two feet to stand on your own. There are no limits confined for you, expect the one's you accept from the society. Get out of the clutches of the labels of weak, feeble, dependent, cultural differences and create a new path where other inspiring women like you will follow these footsteps.
